Time to send those squash a-sailing at the 10th annual Punkin Chunkin! Join the Allegheny County Parks Department and SHARP Robotics from the Sarah Heinz House on Saturday, October 17, 2026 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm to watch as pumpkins are launched across the amphitheater field in Hartwood Acres Park by a full-size trebuchet. Punkin Chunkin is free and open to all ages, with fun and games for the whole family, even furry friends! Bring pups in their best costumes to celebrate Howl-o-Ween at the free Bark or Treat event from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the Hartwood Acres dog park (next to the amphitheater) for treats, tricks, and tennis balls. Registration is recommended for Punkin Chunkin and Bark or Treat to ensure there are enough supplies for everyone. Accompanying the trebuchet launch and Bark or Treat are activities including: Crafts Games Face Painting Interactive Storytelling Cookie Decorating Farmer's Market Food trucks coming soon!
